What to Expect in 5.2 (for Twinks)

Update2: Blizzard fixed BoA secondary stat scaling; Cynwise published an excellent blog post concerning what looks like the final state of bracket stat scaling.

Update: Cynwise’s article prompted Ghostcrawler to report that hit scaling in BGs was bugged. Hang on, twinks!

Many brackets will see minor impact from class/spec changes, and we will need to wait until players report in-game experiences to get a better idea of how games play. That said, the following changes affect multiple brackets.

All battleground base stats temporarily boost to the bracket’s level cap. While you retain your current level, you temporarily gain the base stats (and suffer the secondary stat degradation) of leveling to the top of the bracket. Gear does not scale, except for BoAs. There currently is a bug where BoA secondary stats (i.e. in green, such as haste, crit, and resil) don’t register at all in battlegrounds. All other sources of secondary stats (including enchantments on BoAs) work fine.

The x9 brackets and the 24 bracket will either remain unaffected or see positive results. The 60-64 bracket may also find this change to be a blessing in disguise, and level 50 raiders may consider launching the 54 PvP bracket. Players in brackets 70 and above will need to make a tough choice between staying at the low end of the bracket to get arenas, and taking the full plunge into the upper end of the bracket to mitigate the massive secondary stat degradation. 10s…ouch.

Rumsey Rum Black Label’s stats got removed. First reported at Twinkinfo, this longtime favorite twink drink will take a back seat to other consumables.

Expanded weapon transmogrification limits. Okay, so this one’s not a big deal, but hey, you wanted to know anyway, right? 2H axes, maces, and swords can transmogrify to each other. 1H axes, maces, and swords can transmogrify to each other. Finally, staves and polearms can transmogrify to each other.

Did I miss anything? Shout out in the comments!

To leave you with a tidbit for the future, Aelobin notes that you should skip to 26:10 in this interview with Ghostcrawler concerning skirmishes.

I just noticed on one of my 29s that my resilience went up about 2.5%. Blizzard must have tweaked the scaling a bit, because my gear didn’t change at all.

Interestingly enough, when calculating for effective health, the extra resil comes out to about the same as…a Rumsey Rum Dark Label.

Blazing Speed at level 15-19 makes for beastly mobility! /castsequence reset=4 Blink, Blazing Speed

also rumsey rum purge macro may be a nice addition:

/run for bag = 0,4,1 do for slot = 1, 32, 1 do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag, slot); if name and string.find(name,”Rumsey Rum Black Label”) then PickupContainerItem(bag, slot); DeleteCursorItem(); end; end; end

Having stat degradation is painful for the 70s, 80s, and 85s… however it did slow down the pace of the game and that is a good thing.

The 74s, 84s, and 89s however still break what was good about it. It forces those who are not to level and get better gear to combat it. Far from putting us on the same playing field, it really changes nothing and gives the 74, 84, and 89s the secondary statical advantage.

Mostly I’ve seen people complaining about not being hit nor expertise capped anymore after stat decay.

Weapon transmogs still require that your class is capable of equipping the desired weapon. Druids get a bit of the shaft on this change because they cannot use axes or swords. They ARE able to mog staves and polearms, but that still leaves druids dry when it comes to maces and daggers.

What other drinks/potions/food buffs are available for level 19 twinks. I got better than 1000 units of Rumsey Rum Black Label In the bank. What a waste. :/
